About Us

The South Carolina Upstate is blessed to have two organizations focused on providing residents an opportunity to meet people, make friends, socialize, and learn about the area.

The Newcomer Club of the Foothills was formed in 1972 and is focused towards new residents moving into the area. Individuals or couples can join the organization for a maximum of three years and become a member of a Social Group that become new best friends and plan a monthly group activity. General membership meetings are held monthly providing an opportunity to socialize, hear interesting speakers of local interest, and learn about volunteer opportunities with local community groups. Members can also join any of many special interest groups such as hiking, dinner groups, card groups, book clubs, etc.

The Graduate Newcomer Club is a social organization open to all graduates of the Newcomer Club of the Foothills and other Oconee County residents (and residents of surrounding areas) having an interest in joining. General membership meetings provide an opportunity for members to socialize and hear speakers of local interest. Members can join any of a number of Interest Groups sponsored by the Graduate Newcomer Club, and Newcomer Club of the Foothills' Special Interest Groups on an "as available" basis.
